371 p., clean and unmarked within--though there is some foxing to strong, mildly age-toned paper. Front end page has gift inscription in beautiful hand, but also an ugly stain, and brown paper covering front paste down is partially stripped away; gutter cracked but binding firm. Wonderful frontis. with foxed tissue guard that has two small closed tears, and full-page bear-themed engravings within. Green boards with leafy motif are somewhat faded in places, gilt lettering tarnished but still clear. In absence of d.j. there is moderate scuffing and bumping.
