Our Mission
My Dead Aunt’s Books is a locally owned independent bookstore that has been bringing books back from the dead since 2018. It is our mission to provide a quality selection of gently read, rare and local books while providing a friendly environment that nurtures the exchange of literary ideas to our community.
We are committed to engaging with the many diverse peoples and organizations of our community, partnering with the SoHy Co-Op to bring commerce and culture to Hyattsville.

Our Story
Robert Harper began My Dead Aunt’s Books after his wife’s aunt Gingie passed away and gifted them her extensive book collection. What first started as a solely online bookstore under the name Robert Harper Books, has now become a booming storefront inside the SoHy Arts Building along with an online inventory. My Dead Aunt’s Books now boasts an inventory of over 38,000 books!
My Dead Aunt’s Books is proud of its history and role in the community it serves and will always find a good place for every book… especially from your dearly departed.
